March marches on.....

It's hard to believe that we welcome Spring on Friday!
Slowly the snow is melting and we're beginning to see signs of warmer weather....

Here is an update on what we're learning in Room 49:

Math - Decimals -we have been working on reading, writing, and understanding decimals using tenths and hundredths.  This week we are comparing, ordering, and adding decimals.

Reading - This week we began reading The Van Gogh Cafe by Cynthia Rylant.  We are using this "magical" story to practice writing chapter summaries using the main idea and supporting details.

Writing -Narrative writing -the students are working on the skill of editing and revising their work.  Opinion Writing- we are also reading and writing opinion pieces using the OREO format (Opinion. Reason, Evidence, and Opinion).

Science - This week the students started learning about SOUND with Mrs. Demartini.

Social Studies -Welcome to the Southwest!  The students are excited to learn about this interesting region (only 4 states!).
