Welcome February!

Happy February!

The groundhog didn't see his shadow...maybe this means early Spring.  It certainly feels like it!  Here is an update on what we're learning in Room 49.

Math: Fractions!  This week we are adding/subtracting fractions, reducing to lowest terms, and working with mixed numbers.

ELA: Everest: On Top of the World -our nonfiction text studies continue with a look at main idea and supporting details.  The students are using their knowledge of text structure to help them read and understand the story.  We are also writing narratives using themes from other stories.  I am impressed with the creativity students are putting into their stories!

Social Studies: Welcome to the Midwest!  This week we are learning about the climate and resources of the Midwest.  The students have enjoyed learning about "tornado alley".

Science:  The students are putting the finishing touches on their circuit boards with Mrs. Demartini

Book Report:  By now all students have chosen a topic and shown me a book.  The final typed report and poster and/or model are due by 2/26.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
